To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, it's crucial that we carefully outline the eligibility criteria for special needs accommodations through our Access Passport. These guidelines are designed not only to safeguard the integrity of events but also to guarantee that they remain accessible and enjoyable for all attendees, including those with unique conditions.

To avoid misuse and to make sure that the accommodations meet your specific needs, we kindly ask that you read the following guidance thoroughly before self-certifying your eligibility on your Access Passport.

Guidance On Assistance Animals

For many attendees with disabilities, assistance animals play a crucial role in their ability to enjoy and participate in public events. Our goal is to ensure that every visitor has a positive and inclusive experience. Here's what you need to know about bringing your assistance animal to our events.

Recognised Assistance Dogs

In the UK, certain assistance dogs are officially recognized due to their specialised training to support individuals with various disabilities. These dogs are trained by accredited organisations to assist with visual impairments, hearing impairments, mobility issues, and more. We welcome these trained assistance dogs at our events and venues, acknowledging their essential role in supporting their owners.

Owner-Trained and Other Service Animals

We understand that many individuals rely on owner-trained service animals or other types of service animals that might not have been trained by an accredited organisation. While we recognize the value and support these animals provide, verifying their training and behaviour to ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees presents challenges.

Due to the diverse environments and situations at events, we can't universally recognize owner-trained or unaccredited service animals. However, we encourage those who depend on such animals to reach out to us or the specific venue to discuss accommodations. Each situation is unique, and we are committed to understanding and addressing your needs to the best of our ability.

Emotional Support Animals

Emotional support animals offer invaluable support and companionship, enhancing the well-being of their owners. Although the current regulatory environment does not specifically address the access rights of emotional support animals at public events and venues, we understand their importance.

Attendees who wish to bring an emotional support animal to an event are encouraged to contact the event organisers or venue in advance. While we strive to accommodate all attendees' needs, decisions regarding emotional support animals are made on a case-by-case basis, considering the nature of the event and the specific support the animal provides.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity means we're always looking for ways to accommodate all attendees, including those with assistance animals. While there are guidelines and limitations, our approach is to understand and meet your needs within the scope of what is safe and reasonable for the event context.

If you have any questions or need to discuss accommodations for your assistance animal, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our team using [email protected] Together, we can work towards ensuring you have a comfortable and enjoyable event experience.

Guidance On Essential Companions

Our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity extends to ensuring that all attendees, regardless of their needs, can enjoy our events to the fullest. This includes understanding the role of essential companions in providing necessary support to individuals with disabilities. Here's what you should know about arranging support for your visit:

Understanding Essential Companion Support

Our approach to companion support goes beyond simple ticket discounts or buy-one-get-one-free schemes. It's about recognizing the substantial need for support some of our guests have, which enables them to fully participate in and enjoy our events.

An essential companion is someone who provides necessary assistance that goes beyond what might be expected from family or friends attending the event. This support is specifically related to disability needs and is crucial for the attendee's full participation in the event.

When Is Companion Support Necessary?

Companion support is considered necessary when an individual's disability-related needs are such that without this support, they would not be able to attend the event. This isn't about the general need for care but focuses on the significant disadvantage an individual would face if required to pay for a ticket for their essential companion. In such cases, event organisers or venues may provide a reduced price or complimentary ticket for the companion as a reasonable adjustment.

This policy is about ensuring equal access to our events, acknowledging that the additional cost of a companion ticket can be a significant barrier for some attendees.

Children and Young Attendees

For children, the need for an essential companion is assessed with careful consideration of what can be reasonably expected of parental responsibility. The support must be significantly above what is typically expected for a child of a similar age, focusing on disability-related needs rather than general childcare.

The decision to provide support in the form of an essential companion ticket is not based merely on the child's need for care but on whether the cost of a companion ticket poses an unreasonable barrier to attending the event.
