Email Clients

Learn how Different Breed ensures email designs perform seamlessly across a wide range of clients and devices.

Overview

Email client support is no longer defined solely by testing within browsers. The email ecosystem has expanded significantly in recent years, with a diverse range of clients being used both on the web and across devices. Each client presents unique challenges while enabling different cutting-edge features.

Different Breed builds emails to ensure that a user’s experience is tailored to the capabilities of their email client or browser. While the majority of users will access core functionality, those with advanced technology will benefit from an enhanced experience.

Levels of Support

1. Mainstream Support

Mainstream support ensures emails are fully optimized for the most widely used and actively maintained email clients and devices.

  • Criteria:

    • Includes the latest and most commonly used email clients and devices.

    • Clients must be in active development and supported by manufacturers.

  • Scope:

    • All features and functionality are delivered to the highest standard.

    • Fully tested across supported clients.

    • Client-specific features are leveraged to provide exceptional user experiences.

2. Legacy Support

Legacy support covers email clients and devices that are no longer supported by manufacturers or have minimal market share. These clients may lack modern email rendering capabilities.

  • Criteria:

    • Includes outdated or unsupported email clients with negligible usage.

  • Scope:

    • Support is provided as a premium service, with bespoke requirements agreed upon at a per-project level.

    • Features and functionality are delivered and tested according to these agreed requirements.

Supported Email Clients

Different Breed defines supported email clients based on global market share statistics and client usage trends. Mainstream clients typically include:

  • Gmail (Web and Mobile)

  • Outlook (Desktop and Web)

  • Apple Mail (iOS and macOS)

  • Yahoo Mail (Web and Mobile)

  • Samsung Mail

Legacy Clients: Legacy clients may include older versions of Outlook, Thunderbird, or other platforms no longer receiving updates or widely used.
